Twenty five students in the Surgical Physician
Assistant Program use four different forms to track their activities
on handheld devices as they see up to fifty patients each day.
Each form ranges from four to twenty one pages and is used to collect
data on surgical operations, procedures outside the operating room,
patient assessments and conference attendance.
Students synchronize their handhelds in a nearby
computer lab where four workstations have been equipped with sync cradles.
Data from Pendragon Forms is sent via intranet to a database that can
be accessed from Klodas PC. Built-in security features have
been selected so that students cannot change or review their procedure
data. After synchronizing, all information is erased from the
handheld.
